This course is an essential component of our active threat assessment methodology. It is designed for all military, law enforcement, and security professionals who have a mission of observing, interacting with, and protecting the public. Online and instructor-led training available.

Research-Based Observation Techniques

Through our 4-hour Threat Observation course, learners will gain the awareness, tools, and techniques needed to effectively identify active threats. They will walk away with a working knowledge of the terms and concepts associated with baselining and active threat assessment, be able to systematically observe any environment, and identify potentially threatening individuals and situations.

This course covers how to assess a baseline using the Behavioral Baseline Instrument (BBI); how to properly identify the roles, deviations, and objectives of those they are observing; and how to identify a Person of Interest (POI).

This course will teach you a variety of researched and trusted tools and techniques like the Behavioral Baseline Instrument (BBI) and systematic observation.

Our techniques were developed through research with law enforcement officers from throughout the United States and validated by Social Scientists with the Just Doesn’t Look Right Project.

ONLINE OR IN-PERSON

This training can be taken in an online format or in person with an instructor. The class includes a mix of easy-to-digest videos, knowledge checks, and practical exercises.

EXAMS

The online course includes a theory and a practical exam. A 70% average score is required to complete the course. A certificate will be provided after completion.

ELIGIBILITY

This course is available to military, law enforcement, and security personnel with a broad range of missions. Affiliation will be verified after purchase and prior to enrollment.

CPE CREDITS

Completion of this course provides 4 CPE credits to maintain APP, CPP, PCI, and PSP credentials.
