Level 2: Put Your Interview Skills to the Test
In Evidence Disclosure 2, trainees will plan for and conduct a mock interview with a role player in an investigative interview setting. By the end of the program, learners will deeply understand the terms and concepts associated with research-based communication techniques, and be able to:
Engage the subject using rapport-building best practices, explain the purpose of the interview, and establish ground rules for the interview without the use of evidence.
Elicit a "free narrative" from the subject of an investigative interview so that it occurs without interruption of subject, without the use of evidence, and uses productive prompts as necessary.
Use a set of evidence and associated free narrative to identify statement-evidence inconsistencies.
Assess subject credibility, formulate evidence disclosure strategies, and use evidence to challenge identified statement-evidence inconsistencies in accordance with the Evidence Framing Matrix.

“This was really great training. Great presenters, prepared, and very valuable!”
“I am very aware of my surroundings, this helped me see my instincts can be useful and helpful, and while I can't always think everyone is a threat, it is important to act if I feel someone is acting extra strange, it could save lives!”
“I will look for deviations and then assess if there is a threat. Good reminder to trust your gut, and pay attention to something not looking right”
“It's a great reminder to be more aware of surroundings and potential threats. Since leaving the military, I think I've been less alert in some ways. But now more than ever, we need to stay aware to stay safe!”
“This course will provide a baseline for my organization and improve communication on risks while allowing for similar terminology and methodology to be used.”
“I liked the explanations and examples that were more non-military than military. Often Tactical Jargon bogs down good clean explanations. Nice Job!!”
“This course has helped me to be more observant of the behavior of others. Which in turn will benefit my own safety (and the safety of others) and allow me to be better at my job.”
“While I have years of experience in assessing situations, this course provided clear and concise instructions for helping establish a baseline in unfamiliar surroundings.”
“It provided useful information to keep in mind when I'm in environments that could involve unsafe situations.”

“My routine assignments require the observation of persons within my facility. By understanding a baseline and being able to articulate that baseline, I am better prepared to complete reports and investigations relative to my observations and deviations from our facility baseline.”
“Our mission is to reduce crime and improve the quality of life through a partnership with all citizens. After taking this course, I have learned tools and techniques to make me a better officer and a better trainer; which in turn will help keep our citizens safe from threats.”
“I am often watching people and their behavior and now have a better understanding of indicators that a person may be armed.”
“We use these techniques everyday, but many of us have never been able to articulate the "why" in what we see. This program gives us a way to describe and explain what took us years to observe. This is going to be fantastic for our new officers, who will have the fortune of learning this without having to wait for years to experience it.”
